How and Why BurnFree Works:
Burnfree gel draws the heat out of burn injuries and into the hydrogel. This cools the burn injury providing pain relief and helps stop the burn progression. The heat in the gel then causes evaporation, which releases the heat into the air. BurnFree also keeps the wound site moist so that the body will not lose more water, helping to keep burn victims from entering into shock.
While water will cool the burn, it is often difficult if not impossible to keep water over the entire burn area, and a large volume of water is required to cool even a small burn. BurnFree gel is viscous, meaning that it will stay on the burn and draw out the heat, making it easire to cool the burn with Burnfree than with water. BurnFree is also antimicrobial, which means it will keep the wound sterile, whereas water itself can be contaminated then contaminate the would.
Hypothermia is a concern in treating burn victims because loss of skin means loss of heat via radiation and evaporation. Hypothermia occurs when the body loses heat faster than it can produce it, causing a dangerously low body temperature. Using ice on a burn injury will not only lower the temperature of the skin, but can cause vasoconstriction thus increasing the zone of necrosis. Also, using water cold enough to sufficiently cool the burn is conducive to causing hypothermia if used for the indicated 10-20 minutes.
Using BurnFree, a hydrogel, mitigates this risk of hypothermia while providing all of the same benefits of cooling and soothing the burn. BurnFree helps stop the progression of the burn by drawing the heat out.
BURNFREE's technologically-advanced hydrogel formula remains stable at a wide range of temperatures. The BURNFREE gel is also thick enough to help it stay on the wound site, making it easy to use and allowing the cooling action to be more effective.
BURNFREE dressings and single dose packets are sterile. Sterility is preferred for first aid treatment by Doctors and Emergency Personnel, to reduce the risk of infection.
BURNFREE dressings are also approved as a wound dressing that soothes and protects cuts, scrapes and abrasions, including pressure ulcers, from infection.
