Specifications of this Bradley S45-1987 valve:
Freeze protection kits are intended for use where there is a risk of water freezing in the pipes. The valve begins to bleed the cold water at 45°F (7°C) and is fully open at 35°F (2°C). It is recommended to connect a discharge hose or piping to the unit funneling the discharge away from the fixture to prevent an ice patch hazard. Maximum pressure rating is 200 PSI. Combination units require both the S45-1986 and the S45-1987.
The valve is installed at a low point where the water will tend to be static or “dead leg.” When installing a valve, point the valve downward to allow for drainage. If combined with a scald valve installation, ensure the freeze valve is connected closest to the ball valve. The freeze valve inlet and outlet sizes are 1/2" NPT.
Construction
The freeze protection and ball valves are made of brass casting. The ball valve has a hole drilled on one side to allow the ball to bleed out.
